How a business gets verified

Every listing carries a date and a list of what was checked on that date. If a check is not on the list, it was not done.

WHAT GETS CHECKED
GST registration Every listing
Physical address Visited
Owner identity Every listing
Years in operation Cross checked
Trade licence Where required

How often it is rechecked

[[TK: recheck interval]] A recheck is also triggered by a change of address, a change of phone number, a complaint, or a licence expiring.

What verification does not mean

Verification confirms that a business exists, operates from the address stated, and is run by the person it says. It is not an assessment of workmanship, safety, pricing, or the outcome of any job.

A verified business can still do work you are unhappy with. The mark tells you who you are dealing with, not how well they will do it.

If something goes wrong

Tell me at [[TK: grievance contact]] and I will recheck. Where a check no longer holds, the mark comes off the page and the listing is suspended until it is resolved.

Why only one business per area

Verifying one business properly takes a visit and paperwork, which does not scale to forty. And an enquiry sent to one business gets answered, where the same enquiry sent to eight gets treated as junk by all of them.
